Krista Whipple

Theatre

Hello, I’m Krista Whipple. I’m excited to introduce myself to you as the new theatre teacher for Mountain View Montessori. I’ll have each of your kids in my class once or twice a week where we will be working on voice and diction, movement, improv, public speaking, puppetry and masks, theatre history, a little intro to Shakespeare, and a few special performances throughout the year. I have previously taught theatre to all age groups, from little pre-schoolers up to adults, but I’m so excited to be doing it this year in a Montessori setting. Theatre and Montessori make a perfect partnership because it offers so many opportunities for students to make choices, try on different roles, and explore and develop their unique skills. If your child enjoys attention there will be plenty of opportunities for them to shine on stage, however, if your little one is a bit shy or anxious they can still play an important role as a director, stage manager, set designer, or more! My hope is that every student will feel comfortable to take risks and try new things, but also be able to choose activities that naturally compliment their skills, abilities, and personalities. I may reach out to you from time to time to ask for help collecting items and supplies we will need for props, costumes, sets, or lessons. And if you’re a theatre geek like me please reach out and let me know if you’d like to volunteer or get involved. I’m so excited for the year to begin so I can get to know all your kiddos and see their creative sides come out! Please feel free to get in touch if you have any questions or concerns.
